Making the most of the midweek evening, the cast of “John Carter” gathered together at the Los Angeles premiere of their upcoming motion picture on Wednesday (February 22). Taylor Kitsch , Bryan Cranston, Willem DaFoe, Lynn Collins, and James Purefoy all showed up at the Regent LA Live Theatre to greet fans and pose for pictures before heading into the screening. Also turning up to check out the Andrew Stanton directed work were young stars such as Corbin Bleu, Alexa Vega, Bella Thorne and Frankie Muniz, as well as Tinseltown vet Helen Mirren. As for the film, the Walt Disney production is about a Civil War veteran who is transplanted to Mars, only to discover a lush planet inhabited by 12-foot tall barbarians. The “Borat” star is set to be among the star-studded crowd at the Oscars this Sunday (February 26), but according to Deadline Hollywood, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences has pulled Cohen’s tickets due to his wardrobe. On Wednesday night (February 22), reports surfaced that Cohen planned to show up to the red carpet dressed in full character from his upcoming envelope-pushing comedy, “The Dictator.” A rep from the film’s production company, Paramount, spoke out about the matter, telling Deadline, “Unless they’re assured that nothing entertaining is going to happen on the red carpet, the Academy is not admitting Sacha Baron Cohen to the show.” However, it’s still uncertain whether the actor has actually been forbidden from attending, as an Oscar spokesperson has since told The Hollywood Reporter, “We haven’t banned him, we’re just waiting to hear what he’s going to do.” Sacha is part of the Paramount film “Hugo,” which is up for eleven Oscars including best picture.Photo Credit: Wenn.com
