Whitney Houston Dead at 48

Whitney Houston, one of the most successful female artists of all-time, died at the Beverly Hills Hilton Hotel today. She was 48. The singer’s rep confirmed the news this evening to The Associate Press, with insiders saying a member of Houston’s entourage discovered her body late in the afternoon; a hotel employee called 911; and paramedics arrived to find Whitney unresponsive. She was pronounced dead at 3:55 local time. Beverly Hill Police Lt. Mark Rosen said there was “no obvious signs of criminal intent,” though no cause of death has been determined and detectives have already started a full investigation. Houston leaves behind a daughter, Bobbi Kristina. The two-time Emmy and six-time Grammy Award winner sold over 200 million albums worldwide. She had battled alcohol and drug addiction – last seeking treatment in early 2011 – for many years prior to her death and was spotted out twice in Los Angeles over the last week, first with occasional boyfriend Ray J and then with a pal on Thursday night. Whitney was staying at the hotel in anticipation of Clive Davis’ annual pre-Grammy party, which was scheduled to take place there last that night. It has since been canceled. Our thoughts go out to her loved ones and, in her honor, we present the greatest national anthem performance in professional sports history: Whitney Houston National Anthem: The Best Ever

He’s getting into promotional mode ahead as his new movie “The Lorax” nears its March 2nd release date, and Zac Efron took time to partake in a feature for the March issue of Glamour . Highlights from Zac’s interview are as follows. For more, be sure to pay a visit to Glamour ! On the last tearjerker he saw: “Toy Story 3. I probably cried like 10 times in that movie. I wasn’t alone! Every other dude there was teary.” On his wildest female fans: “You know, it’s the moms who are overaggressive. A lot of times their daughters are very sweet and cordial, and the moms tend to grab you and scream and want to kiss you. You gotta watch out for the moms.” On his worst habit: “I’m bad at returning phone calls. This is a good example: I saw a missed call from an unknown number, and I didn’t check my voice mail. Finally I got around to it, and it was Michelle Pfeiffer, asking if I was doing New Year’s Eve. She said, “Hurry and call me back, because if you do it, I want to do it.” So I’m going, “Oh my God!”” On whether long-distance relationships can work: “It depends. Everyone’s different. It’s a bit of a challenge. If you’re really in love, you can make anything work.”Photo Credit: Getty Images

Ke$ha Gets a Make-Under for Glamour March 2012

She’s been busy putting together her second studio album ahead of its expected May release date, but Ke$ha made a little time to partake in a feature for the March 2012 issue of Glamour . The “We R Who We R” hitmaker got a make-under for her mini photo shoot while talking with the magazine about everything from succeeding as a female rock-star to her future in the music industry. Highlights from Ke$ha’s interview are as follows. For more, be sure to pay a visit to Glamour ! On succeeding as a female rock-star: “I know that I have balls. I have bigger balls than a lot of the men that I meet. I’m just a ballsy motherf—ker. I’m not afraid of pushing boundaries. That’s what you have to do to become an icon.” On her onstage and real life humor: “I’m just very amused by five-year-old humor. Don’t get me wrong: I do destroy men on a weekly basis. It’s like a hobby. I’m like a praying mantis. They f—k me, and then I eat them. But who isn’t amused by a giant, dancing penis? Sometimes when I’m sad, I make my assistant put on the penis outfit and bounce around my house.” On her love of body-paint: “Oh, the body paint stays. It’s my favorite thing to do. Sometimes I have parties at my house in Nashville and it’s clothing-optional, and we just body-paint each other and run around, and I have a giant bed. I’m very much in touch with that side of myself.” On getting photographed without makeup: “My makeup is usually left over from the night before. I’m not really worried about the photographs because if I tell my fans not to give a f—k about the haters, then I have to practice what I preach. I embrace the imperfections and celebrate them.” On her future in the music industry: “Eventually, I would love to be on my deathbed and looked at as an icon. Right now I’m still at the baby stages of my career. But that is the goal.” Photo Credit: Glamour

Karl Lagerfeld Blasts Adele as "Too Fat"

Adele has been nominated for six Grammy Awards. Her album, “21,” has sat atop the Billboard 200 chart for, oh, about 197 weeks. Yet these achievements apparently are not enough for fashion mogul Karl Lagerfeld, who went off randomly to Metro US this week, saying of the current crop of female artists: “The thing at the moment is Adele. She is a little too fat , but she has a beautiful face and a divine voice. Lana Del Rey is not bad at all. She looks very much like a modern-time singer. In her photos she is beautiful. Is she a construct with all her implants? She’s not alone with implants.” Of course, considering the aforementioned accomplishments, this quote begs the question: Too fat for… what? Not for success and popularity, clearly. Too fat, perhaps, for the 78-year old Lagerfeld to sleep with? Adele will try to live with that realization. We know it may be difficult for her. Lagerfeld also commented on M.I.A.’s lewd Super Bowl gesture , profoundly saying of the rapper’s raised middle finger: “Nowadays people give the middle finger quite quickly – it’s not the best behavior. Everybody does that, what’s new about that? It’s just become a bad habit. People in magazines are 50% bimbo and 50% pregnant women.”
