NBC Unveils Fall 2012-2013 Lineup

Upfronts are officially kicking off tomorrow, but NBC has already switched a few things up as they revealed their fall schedule on Sunday (May 13). So just what kind of changes can fans expect to see? Well, fan favorite “The Voice” is getting it’s shot at staying on air this fall and even next spring while another network returnee, “Community,” will now be showing Friday nights at 8:30 pm following the sexy comedy, “Whitney.” Unfortunately, all the shows weren’t lucky enough to keep their spots. According to a network release, five programs have already gotten the axe – among those are two dramas, “Awake” and “Harry’s Law,” as well asthree comedies, “Are You There Chelsea?”, “Best Friends Forever” and “Bent.” Taking the slots of some of the ousted offerings will be newbies including “Go On”, which stars Matthew Perry ; “The New Normal” featuring reality TV personality NeNe Leakes; and “Guys With Kids” which will star Jesse Bradford and Jamie Lynn Sigler . In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, NBC entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt explained that he thinks they are moving in the right direction, saying, “We’ve taken a few first steps toward a turnaround over this past season and now we’re seeing a real opportunity to accelerate that process,” adding, “We’ve got a lineup of new shows that will really get people to sit up and take notice. And with the Olympics coming this summer and two nights of The Voice in the fall, we’ve also got the tools we need to give our shows the kind of launch they deserve.” It has also been confirmed by Greenblatt that, although there have been talks of certain shows such as “30 Rock” and other smaller rated series being on their final season, he says that’s not entirely true, explaining, “As they age [ordering a final season is] something you look at each year, but we haven’t definitively said that to any of them yet.” The complete rundown of NBC’s 2012-2013 Fall Schedule is as follows: MONDAY 8-10 p.m. – “The Voice” 10-11 p.m. – “Revolution” TUESDAY 8-9 p.m. –“The Voice” 9-9:30 p.m. – “Go On” 9:30-10 p.m. – “The New Normal” 10-11 p.m. – “Parenthood” WEDNESDAY 8-8:30 p.m. – “Animal Practice” 8:30-9 p.m. – “Guys with Kids” 9-10 p.m. – “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” 10-11 p.m. – “Chicago Fire” THURSDAY 8-8:30 p.m. – “30 Rock” 8:30-9 p.m. – “Up All Night” 9-9:30 p.m. – “The Office” 9:30-10 p.m. – “Parks and Recreation” 10-11 p.m. – “Rock Center with Brian Williams” FRIDAY 8-8:30 p.m. – “Whitney” 8:30-9 p.m. – “Community” 9-10 p.m. – “Grimm” 10-11 p.m. – “Dateline NBC” SATURDAY Encore programming SUNDAY (Fall 2012) 7- 8:15 p.m. — “Football Night in America” 8:15-11:30 p.m. — “NBC Sunday Night Football” SUNDAY (Post-football/Winter 2013) 7-8 p.m. – “Dateline NBC” 8-9 p.m. – “Fashion Star” 9-10 p.m. – “The Celebrity Apprentice” 10-11 p.m. – “Do No Harm” Photo Credit: NBC

SNL Recap: Will Ferrell Hosts, Usher Performs

Bringing his laugh-inducing greatness to the long-running NBC show, Will Ferrell took over hosting duties on yesterday’s (May 12) episode of “Saturday Night Live”. After an ‘Obama Visits Biden Cold Open’ to kick things off, the “Casa De Mi Padre” actor took the Studio 8H stage while offering up a monologue about Mother’s Day – during which he fittingly brought his own mom onstage to tell her how much he loves her, noting that this time he was without the aid of a script or cue cards. During the course of the show, skits included one titled ‘Funkytown Debate’ in which the candidates running for the mayor of Funkytown had to answer some tough questions from their constituents, as well as a segment dubbed ‘ESPN Golf’ that had ESPN’s coverage of a women’s golf event get interrupted with news of OJ Simpson on the run mixed with frequent advertisements for their sponsor, Stay Free Maxi Pads. Meanwhile, the major highlight of the show saw SNL celebrate its 100th Digital Short in a star-laden offering featuring Justin Bieber singing with Andy Samberg, who led the clip off by saying, “Tonight we are celebrating our 100th short. Congratulations to us, truly a major milestone. Guess what we’re going to do? Tonight, we’re gonna suck our own c**k.” The milestone Digital Short also featured cameos by big names including Natalie Portman and Justin Timberlake . Capping it all off, the Ferrell hosted installment of “Saturday Night Live” welcomed musical guest Usher , who treated viewers to renditions of “Scream” and “Climax” during the course of the episode.

Tina Fey Honors ’30 Rock’ Makeup Artists for Doing the Impossible

Cindy Ord/Getty Speaking about her 30 Rock makeup artists at Thursday night’s New York Women in Film & Television Designing Women awards, Tina Fey spoke of the ladies’ ability to accomplish, well, anything. “Over the last six years they’ve turned Tracy Morgan into a werewolf , turned Will Forte into a beautiful Jane Krakowski and they’ve turned Jane Krakowski into no less than three men, two of whom were African-American ,” the actress shared with the crowd at Macy’s Herald Square. “We throw so much at them and they’ll always figure it out no matter what it is.” Makeup artists Jenn Jorge Nelson and Julie Teel, longtime friends, joined the 30 Rock team six years ago after working with Fey and Amy Poehler on the film Baby Mama. “Meeting them there, I found them not only to be very, very good at what they do, but just a joy to be around, which is really important with a makeup artist because oftentimes they’re the first person you see in the morning and the last person you see at wrap and there’s just no room for crazy there,” Fey joked. Aside from turning Margaret Cho into Kim Jong-Il and Kim Jong-Un (on the same day!) and transforming Morgan into ET (“He was supposed to look like a Caucasian woman,” Fey quipped), the women have also figured out how to give character Liz Lemon a crooked tooth (they used a Lee press-on nail) and once put Krakowski in head-to-toe “Smurf makeup.” “I looked at Jorge and Julie and I was like, ‘Yeah, dammit, you earned your check today,’” she shared. But it’s not all about what’s seen onscreen; it’s about Nelson and Teel’s workmanship, too. Of the skills required to be a television makeup artist, Fey quipped, “I think you need the patience of Job, the eyes of an artist, the hands of surgeon and the firm but tactful demeanor of a women’s prison gynecologist. Because we’re crazy and you’re seeing us at our most vulnerable.” Hairstylist and wigmaker Amanda Miller, costume designer Kasia Walicka-Maimone and the hair, makeup and costume teams of Boardwalk Empire were also honored at Thursday’s ceremony. –Kate Hogan SEE STARS’ ON-SET MAKEUP IN ‘LIGHTS! How Adele’s Gone Incognito in London Lately

Adele video , posted with vodpod If you’re trying to spot Adele in London, look for the lady in the PJs. “I walked through Trafalgar Square on a Saturday afternoon — tourist haven — in pajamas,” the Grammy winner tells Matt Lauer in the upcoming NBC Adele Live in London   special. Even more shocking? The songstress was wearing color. “I’m always in black,” she says. “It was this tracksuit, with a massive green coat and little pink pumps. I had this massive umbrella so no one recognized me.” The superstar says a few onlookers did do a double-take, but no one approached her. “A couple looked around, but they were like, ‘No … she’s in color and what would she be doing walking around a packed Trafalgar Square on Saturday in pajamas?’” she jokes. During the special, Adele also speaks about her 2012 Grammy performance ; it was her first time back onstage after her throat surgery, but she was thinking about more than just her voice. “I had three or four pairs of Spanx on that night,” she reveals, laughing. “I took a few pairs off when I sang, though.” Hear more from Adele in the clip above, and catch the full NBC special on Tuesday, June 5, at 8 p.m. ET. –Jennifer Cress YOU ASKED, WE FOUND: STAR LOOKS

Elizabeth Banks Juggles Media & Mommy Duties in NYC

Taking care of some media duties, Elizabeth Banks was spottedmaking her rounds in New York City on Thursday (May 10). Promoting her brand new movie “What to Expect When You’re Expecting” – which is due out in theaters May 18th – the “Hunger Games” hottie first dropped by NBC Studios for an appearance on the “Today” show. Of her character’s plight, Elizabeth shared, “I think it’s really representative of [many] pregnancies, which is that it’s kind of a disaster. It’s really hard to make a human being- to bake them in an oven, that is, the human body.” Banks also noted that working with Brooklyn Decker was a bit intimidating, beauty-wise. “She’s Brooklyn Decker! She walked around in a bikini the entire time on the set. It’s like, ‘Come on guys! Really?’” Later in the day, the 38-year-old hit the evening circuit by turning up at the Ed Sullivan Theater for a visit to the “Late Show with David Letterman” – during which she recalled a family road trip where her sister got left behind at a McDonald’s. Despite the jam-packed schedule, Banks was sure to make time for her young son, Felix, as the too-cute duo took a stroll around the Big Apple the previous day. President Obama Announces Support For Gay Marriage

President Barack Obama today became the first sitting president to announce support for same-sex marriage, making his position on the subject clear. In a sit-down interview with ABC’s Robin Roberts, Obama completed what has been a long and often dubious “evolution” on the controversial topic. “I’ve always been adamant that gay and lesbian Americans should be treated fairly,” Obama told Roberts in an interview that will air Thursday. Obama’s announcement, on the heels of North Carolina’s Amendment 1 ban on gay marriage in that state, was made after much soul-searching. “Over the course of several years, I have talked to friends and family and neighbors, and I think about members of my own staff who are in incredibly committed monogamous relationships, same-sex relationships, who are raising kids together,” he said. “When I think about those soldiers or airmen or marines or sailors who are out there fighting on my behalf and yet feel constrained, even now that Don’t Ask Don’t Tell is gone, because they are not able to commit themselves in a marriage, at a certain point I’ve just concluded that for me personally it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same sex couples should be able to get married .” The statement constitutes an act of political bravery on the president’s behalf, as 29 states have now banned gay marriage constitutionally. It’s also a major victory for the gay rights community, which has been pushing him to declare his support for marriage equality for years. Just last Sunday, Vice President Joseph Biden told NBC’s Meet The Press that he was personally comfortable with same-sex marriage. With the issue back in the news, the pressure on Obama intensified. The White House originally insisted over the weekend that Biden clarified his statement as being in reference to civil rights for gay couples. But the explanation was largely dismissed as a political dodge, a way for Obama to support for marriage equality without having to declare it himself. No longer. The president finally chose to speak out Wednesday in the wake of the North Carolina ban, with the White House hastily scheduling an interview. “It’s interesting, some of this is also generational,” the president said. “You know when I go to college campuses, sometimes I talk to college Republicans who think that I have terrible policies on the economy, on foreign policy, but are very clear that when it comes to same sex equality or, you know, believe in equality.” “They are much more comfortable with it. You know, Malia and Sasha, they have friends whose parents are same-sex couples. There have been times where Michelle and I have been sitting around the dinner table and we’re talking about their friends and their parents and Malia and Sasha, it wouldn’t dawn on them that somehow their friends’ parents would be treated differently.” “It doesn’t make sense to them and frankly, that’s the kind of thing that prompts a change in perspective.” The president’s support of same-sex marriage will have little political impact, at least from a practical standpoint, as most states have tackled the issue legislatively and/or judicially, outside the realm of the federal government. Symbolically, the impact is much more profound. As the first president to support marriage equality, he sets the bar for its social and political acceptance and retains the ability to shape public opinion further. What do you think of President Obama’s support for gay marriage?

Jessica Simpson Definitely Gushes, Possibly Melts Down Over Baby

One week after she welcomed baby girl Maxwell Drew , Jessica Simpson gave her five million-plus Twitter followers an update on her precious daughter. “I am so in love with baby Maxwell,” the singer wrote Tuesday, gushing over her first-born with Eric Johnson . “I want to cry every time I look at her.” “Motherhood is by far the best thing I’ve ever experienced.” “Little” Maxwell arrived at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles the morning of Tuesday, May 1, and weighed in at a whopping 9 lbs., 13 oz. Jess claims everything is swell now. OK! begs to differ . The mogul, who heads a fashion empire that reportedly grosses $1 billion a year and stars on NBC’s Fashion Star , is melting down … the tabloid claims. The 31-year-old may be cracking under the intense pressure to get back to work as quickly as possible, OK! claims, a situation that also upsets Eric. He hoped that once their daughter was born, Jessica would take a break from her busy schedule. Whether that actually occurs remains to be seen. “The sky’s the limit,” Jessica said in February. “Even with music and acting and being a mom and anything else that I want to do, I know that I can do it all.” “Life is definitely always about expanding. That’s how we grow.” Easy to say at the time, but now that the reality of being a mom has set in, Jessica isn’t so sure … about that or marrying Eric, or losing 65 pounds. Gonna be rough.
