Leon Purvis Asks Justin Bieber to Prom, Tells THG Why

Time is running out for Leon Purvis. The high school sophomore has made a YouTube video – viewed by over 143,000 people at last check – in which he invites Justin Bieber to his upcoming prom. But the event takes place on June 2 and Leon is yet to hear from the singing superstar. Justin Bieber Prom Invitation “I want to take Justin Bieber to my 2012 prom with me as a bro because Justin Bieber deserves to have a normal night to be a normal teen at prom,” Purvis tells The Hollywood Gossip in an exclusive interview. Describing the artist as “raw and real,” Purvis says he’s followed him since his “YouTube days,” long before he took over the music scene. Leon says in the above video that he planned to ask a girl to also be his date. How did that turn out? “I walk over to her I say ‘Hey I got a couple of my friends to help me spell out PROM? P is for promise you will have a good time. R is for a night you will always remember. O is for a occasion of a life time. M is for memories we will share….’” Alas, the young lady in question told Purvis she would think about it; he left on a two-week school-sponsored trip; and returned to discover she had agreed to go with someone else. The nerve! So what can Beliebers do to help get through to Justin? Just spread the word, he says. Spread it to EVERYONE you know. “That would mean the world to me if they did that,” he tells THG. Come on, Selena Gomez , you can be without your man for one evening, right?

Sara Hicks and Taylor Lautner: Dinner Date Alert!

The rumor that started in late January is gaining momentum a few months later. Following a date at Cirque du Soleil with ex-girlfriend Sara Hicks , Taylor Lautner was spotted again this week with his high school sweetheart, dining with Hicks in Los Angeles and trying to remain incognito via a black baseball cap. But the twosome were spotted in Taylor’s car shortly after their night out. See for yourself now! Lautner and Hicks were just “hanging out, seeing a few shows and going to dinner” earlier this year, according to an Us Weekly insider, but chatter about rekindling their romance is growing strong now that they were seen again. Over the last couple years, of course, Lautner has been linked with such famous cuties as Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez and Lily Collins.

Dan Savage Clarifies Condemnation of "Pansy Ass" Christians

Dan Savage – the activist responsible for the It Gets Better campaign in response to bullying – stirred up a bit of controversy this week when he gave a speech at the National High School Journalist Conference in Seattle and told those in attendance: We can learn to “learn to ignore the bullshit in the Bible about gay people.” Savage went on to compare these passages to those regarding shell fish, menstruation and, especially, slavery, saying the bible is a “pro-slavery document,” but we’ve grown to look past those parts while honoring what’s really important within its pages. Watch video excerpts of the lecture now, as about a dozen attendees get up and walk out in response to Savage’s comments: Dan Savage on the Bible: Ignore Homosexual BS! “It’s funny, as someone who’s on the receiving end of beatings that are justified by the Bible, how pansy-ass some people react when you push back,” he said to students leaving in protest, although Savage apologized for this phrasing in a blog post on Sunday, writing: I would like to apologize for describing that walk out as a pansy-a—- move. I wasn’t calling the handful of students who left pansies (2800+ students, most of them Christian, stayed and listened), just the walk-out itself. But that’s a distinction without a difference—kinda like when religious conservatives tells their gay friends that they ‘love the sinner, hate the sin.’ They’re often shocked when their gay friends get upset because, hey, they were making a distinction between the person (lovable!) and the person’s actions (not so much!). But gay people feel insulted by ‘love the sinner, hate the sin’ because it is insulting. Likewise, my use of ‘pansy-a—-’ was insulting, it was name-calling, and it was wrong. And I apologize for saying it. But is Savage sorry for his analysis of the bible? No. “I did not attack Christianity. I attacked hypocrisy,” he says. SHOULD Savage apologize? You tell us:

Father Records Teacher, Aide Bullying Autistic Son

Feeling that New Jersey’s tough anti-bullying laws weren’t tough enough, one father took matters into his own hands, secretly recording a teacher and an aide mocking his autistic child and garnering national attention as a result. Stuart Chaifetz said his 10-year-old son, Akian, had always been a “sweet and nonviolent child,” and so it was puzzling when he began coming home with notes from Horace Mann Elementary School claiming he was having violent outbursts. Dad Records Teacher Mocking Autistic Child In some cases, Akian was accused of hitting his teacher and an aide. When meetings with school administrators didn’t produce answers, Chaifetz was at a loss. “I felt I was beginning to lose my son, that these outbursts were changing his very nature,” he says. “I knew I had to find out what was happening in his class.” Chaifetz’s method of getting to the bottom of things including wiring his son for sound one February morning. Akian returned with more than six hours of audio. Six hours that Stuart Chaifetz said “changed his life forever.” Chaifetz detailed his findings on a web page, “No More Teachers/Bullies,” and in a YouTube video titled: “Teacher/Bully: How My Son Was Humiliated and Tormented by His Teacher and Aide” (above). The results are certainly eyebrow-raising. In clips of the audio, a classroom aide and teacher whom Chaifetz identifies as “Jodi” and “Kelly” can be heard discussing alcohol use, spousal issues and other personal topics, as well as mocking Akian and responding rudely to his questions. Chaifetz in listening to the audio, the reasoning behind his son’s outbursts became clear to him, and he then moved to take the case public. Thanks to social media, the case has quickly gone viral. In a note atop the hundreds of comments he’s received, Chaifetz states that he’s disabled the auto-post feature due to a large amount of “inappropriate posts,” and that he’s finding it hard to keep up with comments pouring in. Chaifetz has also noted a groundswell of support on Facebook. As a result of Chaifetz’s impromptu sting, the aide was fired but the teacher was apparently reassigned to another school. On his web page, Chaifetz expresses the opinion that such teachers should be fired, “no second chances, no excuses.” He has collected more than 20,000 signatures on a petition seeking legislation that would result in immediate dismissal of teachers who engage in bullying.
